New App that EVERYONE should have

My friend Brittany was visiting me this past weekend and told me about this app she just downloaded on her phone.  It tracks food, exercise, etc.  You enter your current weight, goal weight, height, age, and everything you do all day and it keeps track of the changes.

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/   is the website, but MYFITNESSPAL is the app.
Before going to a restaurant, or preparing a meal, you just simply type in the food that you want to eat, and see if it's within the amount of calories you can have for the day.  Not only does the app track calories and weight, but it tells you nutritional values that you're taking in; sodium, sugars, fats, etc. etc. etc.

I've lost 3lbs since Sunday because I'm more conscious of what I'm doing with my body, and the foods I'm eating.

get back up

http://imgfave.com/view/1992738 this is funny because it's true and it happens to everyone. don't feel bad when it happens and dont give up either!! thats the worst thing you can do because you'l be giving up on yourself.the most important to remember is why your doing this in the first place. never try to lose weight for anyone but yourself!! keep your head up and get back to it even if you gained that 5lbs back

Me now

5foot2 and 230lbs but my boobs are big so that counts for some of my weight right?

you are a pretty girl..but you would be prettier if you lost some weight....

Growing up I was never skinny I've had problems with my weight my whole life. I think the root of this is my parents breaking up and mom getting a health nut boyfriend. I enjoy healthy foods dont get me wrong, but once he moved in everything was "bad for you": milk cheese loaf bread yogurt and the list goes on. My whole diet was switched over-night,until the weekends when i would go to my dad's house. I think my father was so scared that i would like my moms boyfriend over him he would give me everything that  i wasnt allowed at moms house:::: candy, sweets, red meat.. basically anything i wanted which helped me have an unhealthy relationship with food. The more i think about it the i realize i would eat as much "junk" as i could on the weekend because i knew during the week i wouldnt get anything like it. Once i got older my mother who is a slim size 4, would always pressure on me to lose weight. "you're such a beautiful girl Marissa, you would be so much prettier if you lost weight" i feel like this is the worst thing she could say to me. I know she meant well but i still felt like she was ashamed to have a daughter that looks like me. My sister is the same size as her, after having two kids, and everyone talks about how much they look alike. not me just the black fat cow in the family no one believes I'm my mother's daughter. I'm writing this because i'm sure there are other girls out there who went through this growing up and I wanna let you know your pretty with the extra weight or not so don't let the words of your family get you down because in the end so mean well.

These are the pictures I want to look back on:

Not that I enjoy putting pictures on the internet of myself, in this way... but you have to start somewhere I guess. I'm surrendering to a new life, and a new me.  (Now it's Marissa's turn!)

Current Weight 238lbs
Current Height  5'9 1/2
Current Pant Size 16/18
Current Bra Size 36b

I would like to reach 165lbs, and/or be in a size 10 jeans.

2/2/2012<--- I would like to flatten my tummy, remove my FUPA, and be able to have space between my thighs.
***Credit to Marissa for the Watermelon shirt. (she will have to share the video in a post soon)***

Losing motivation!

I'm not as motivated as I was when we began this journey a month ago.  I recently lost my job, I'm a full-time college student, and can't afford to buy good groceries.  I have a 24/hr gym in my apartment complex, and access to a 24/hr gym locally, and 4 more sessions of Zumba (1.5hr classes).

My next attempt is to post old photos of myself on the fridge.....of time when I was healthy, and skinny.  Stress is a HUGE factor (I've learned... over the past couple of years) in weight gain, and the inability to lose weight.  I thought that it was something more, so I went to see my doctor. She ran every test, including diabetes, heart disease, and thyroid problems.  The outcome? Stress, cortisol levels, and hormones.  I recently started a new amount of hormones (and increased dosage of estrogen), and taking supplements daily.

These are the supplements I take daily (with a glass of water, and NOT on an empty stomach):

January 4th, 2012

Mmmmm!
I just finished a yummy low-calorie dinner and decided to share what I've had to eat today.  This morning I had green tea (nothing added).  Lots and lots of water, sometimes I add Mio to give it some flavor since I cut out juice and soda.  For lunch I had special K cereal with skim milk.  For snack I had a bowl of blueberries, raspberries, bananas, and sliced strawberries.  For dinner I had a steamfresh bag of brown wild rice with vegetables and 2 90-calorie grilled lemon pepper fish patties.   Feeling good!

Kaitlins 10 Comandments

  1. Be aware of everything you put into your body.
  2. Drink water and tea, instead of soda or juice
  3. Get plenty of fiber (fruits, veggies, supplements)
  4. Exercise for an hour each day. ("I didn't have time", is not a good excuse)
  5. Focus on the main goal. (The number on the scale isn't necessarily the goal, the ability to feel good inside, wear clothes that flatter you, and be confident and healthy, are the main reasons for this journey to take your life back)
  6. Keep a small notebook and record EVERYTHING you eat/drink throughout the day.  (This may seem tedious, but it helps to visualize)
  7. Plan meals, and avoid eating out.
  8. Limit cheese, desserts, and sugar.  Eat more whole grain foods.
  9. Take vitamins and supplements to help body functions, metabolism, and to get vitamins and nutrients that you may not be getting each day.
  10. Laugh a lot.

10 rules for marissa by marissa

   1.    Try one new fruit or veggie once a week. (Okay I am awful at eating my fruits and veggies and I really think trying new ones will help me eat more of them and help me to make healthier choices.)
   2.  Move my body for at least 30 mins a day. (The only way to really go from a fat ass to a nice ass.)
   3.  Slip-ups...Don't kill yourself over them, or give up all together It's going to happen (remember marissa you are only human.)
   4.  Limit snacking. .....most of the time i eat its because im bored, and not really hungry. (Time to retrain myself to three meals and three small snacks.)
   5.   Water is your best friend.  Everyone says it but its so true, not only does it make your skin clear it almost helps flush the toxins out of my body.
  6.  Back to the water.... drink at least 1qt per day
  7.   Drink real fruit juice, 8oz if im gonna have it.  I have nothing agauist juice its just full of sugar. in fact that 4oz juice 4oz water better for you that way.
  8.  More rice less grain.i know grain is getting a bad rap and im a bread girl but i know a lot of people can't do gluten, so im gonna cut it down and replace it with rice instead.when i finally give into the grain fix always whole and full of fiber is a must.
  9.  Replacing cravings. I heard people get cravings because their bodys need that protein or salt or whatever so if your craving pizza make you need more caluim so a little milk instead could help curve that craving.
  10.  Lean meats=lean body. so obvi turkey chicken and fish. I don't like beans very much but i should try to eat it as well. im not gonna give up cow and pig all together but small pieces every two weeks over salad is a good idea!!
